Getting Ready for Your Trip

A weekend trip to Catalina or a voyage in Mexico, see our recommendations

below on what to bring and what to expect.

What to bring – Keep it simple… most people over pack. You will need flip flops, boat shoes and hiking or shore shoes. Swim suits, shorts, tank tops, t-shirts… think “Hawaii Casual” or Cabo without the fancy restaurants. Lots of beach bars and the girls dress to impress accordingly.

Many find hanging out in their PJ’s are fun in the late mornings or early evenings if you are onboard with your close friends or family. A common practice is a “rinse off shower” in the afternoon on the Swim Step leaving your damp clothes behind and dressing boat casual. Also, I would bring more t-shirts and shorts and less other stuff.

You will be on a boat with limited storage so it is better to unpack and not live out of your suitcase. Soft cases are preferred due to limited space onboard. Hard cases do not work well. If you need to bring a hard case, please know that it will be stored at the Marina facility until your return. A little rolling cart for your soft bags is helpful. Keep it EASY!

Groceries: The nearest grocery store to the marina is Vons, it is located at 600 E Broadway, Long Beach. Plan your meals out ahead of time. We have many ways to cook aboard; stove, oven, BBQ, microwave, toaster…ect. Remember to see what s on the boat first, it is normally stocked with small snacks and condiments to avoid guests over buying. You will be the cooks and the cleaners so please remember to do your own dishes.

Booze: Don‘t forget to get some.

Sunscreen: We have some sunscreen onboard but it is suggested to bring your own. PLEASE do NOT bring any type of spay sunscreen on the boat.

Safety: Captain Jorge will go over all the safety procedures and prepare you for what you should expect. The boat will be ready for your arrival.

The boat is located on Shoreline Village Drive Marina, Long Beach

Parking: Contact Captain Jorge to let you park in the marina lot, parking in the shoreline parking lot is pricey especially for a few days. Make sure to display the permit Captain Jorge supplies clearly in your windshield.

When you get on the boat, relax! There are many good restaurants in the area, our go-to is Yard House. Make sure you unpack your bags and put your things away, there should be adequate storage space in every cabin. It is important things are secure as the boat may rock underway.

Once On the Boat – This is a seagoing yatch. It includes three forward cabins with three ensuite heads. Captains Quarters and head are Aftship. The boat has a main salon, California deck seating and fishing cockpit. The forward galley has a main dining nook. The Pilot House is the command center and has a seating area with a broad open deck for relaxing. The Flybridge has the Captains Controls and table with another nook and a total of three Captains chairs. Some find this the best visual experience while underway.

Captain Jorge has been with the last two EASY’s and most find him fun, engaging and extremely helpful. He is an experienced, licensed Captain that will safely guide you on your trip. Additionally, he will “Captain” the Dingy for day excursions and assist you with snorkeling, fishing, kayaking and scuba diving for those experienced certified divers.

If this boat was a Condo on Maui or a Ski Lodge in Aspen, the living experience would be somewhat the same; an intimate experience with Mother Nature presenting itself and you adapting to those weather conditions. The Galley is adequately equipped for you to apply your culinary skills. Basic cooking condiments are stocked.

Upon arrival to the boat, unpack your soft cases, familiarize yourself with the boat and the Galley as well as the stocked items. The grocery store is a short walk from the Marina where you will find items for your individual taste and desire. Don’t forget the Booze of your choice. Just like being in that Maui Condo or Aspen Ski Lodge, you and your friends are the Cooks and the Bottle Washers so plan Accordingly!

We can and will do the shopping for you if you so desire, however, we have found this unsuccessful. We want to keep it EASY!
